Bauxite – Primary Ore for Aluminum Production

High-grade bauxite used in aluminum refining, refractory applications, and industrial mineral processing.

Bauxite – The Foundation of Aluminium Industry

Bauxite is the primary raw material for aluminium production and one of the most important industrial minerals globally. It is typically formed through the weathering of aluminum-rich rocks in tropical and subtropical climates, resulting in deposits rich in alumina minerals such as gibbsite, boehmite, and diaspore.

At WAO Steels and Mines Export Pvt Ltd, we source and supply high-grade bauxite from licensed mining regions across India. Our material is carefully selected and verified through independent laboratory analysis to ensure it meets international industrial standards required for alumina refining, smelting operations, and various metallurgical applications.

Our procurement process focuses on compliance, traceability, and consistent mineral quality. Every shipment is supported with complete documentation, regulatory clearances, and verified chemical composition reports to ensure reliability for our international buyers.

Typical Composition (as per Independent Laboratory Analysis)

The quality of bauxite is determined primarily by its Al₂O₃ (Alumina) content and silica levels. Higher alumina with lower silica is preferred for efficient refining in alumina plants.

Typical chemical composition based on laboratory analysis may include:

Al₂O₃ (Alumina): ~56.48%
SiO₂ (Silica): ~2.38%
Fe₂O₃ (Iron Oxide): ~4.71%
Moisture: ~8.50%
LOI (Loss on Ignition): ~30.36%

This high-alumina, low-silica composition makes the material suitable for alumina refineries and other metallurgical applications requiring consistent mineral quality.

Size Analysis

+100 mm: 3.90%
+50 mm: 6.20%
-10 mm: 1.00%

Material can also be crushed and screened into customized sizes depending on buyer requirements.

Our Procurement Process

At WAO Steels and Mines Export Pvt Ltd, we manage the entire procurement chain from mine sourcing to port dispatch to ensure reliability and transparency.

1. Mine Sourcing

Bauxite is sourced from licensed mines located in major mineral belts across India, including Goa, Maharashtra, and surrounding regions. All mining operations are conducted under government regulations with required permits and environmental compliance.

2. Extraction and Handling

The ore is extracted through controlled mining operations including drilling, blasting, and excavation. Extracted material is transported via dumpers to stockyards where it is sorted and prepared for processing.

3. Screening and Crushing

Depending on customer specifications, the ore is processed through crushing and screening plants to achieve required particle sizes such as 10 mm, 40 mm, or 100 mm fractions. Oversized rocks and impurities are removed during this stage.

4. Quality Verification

Each batch is sampled and analyzed for chemical composition including Fe₂O₃, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, moisture levels, and particle size distribution. Third-party laboratory certifications are provided when required.

This systematic process ensures that only verified and consistent quality bauxite reaches our buyers.

International buyers require reliable logistics, strict quality control, and transparent documentation. Our export process is structured to meet global trade standards and ensure a smooth supply chain from mine to destination port. Upon buyer confirmation, a formal sales contract is issued outlining the agreed quantity, chemical specifications, pricing terms, delivery schedules, and payment conditions. Following contract finalization, bauxite is transported from mine stockyards to designated port terminals using heavy transport vehicles and organized logistics networks. Depending on shipment location and export requirements, cargo is typically routed through major Indian ports such as Vasco-da-Gama (Goa) and other suitable export terminals.

Before shipment, independent inspection agencies verify cargo quality and quantity to ensure compliance with buyer specifications. Each shipment is supported with laboratory analysis reports and verification documents including chemical composition reports, size analysis reports, weight verification records, and loading supervision reports. Buyers are also provided with complete export documentation such as the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading (BL), certificate of analysis, certificate of origin, and all necessary export permits and royalty clearances. Shipments can be arranged either in containerized cargo (FCL) or bulk vessel shipments depending on volume and buyer preference, and buyers are updated throughout the loading and dispatch process with operational and documentary confirmation.

To ensure smooth and secure international transactions, we offer flexible payment structures designed to accommodate different buyer requirements while maintaining financial security for both parties. Standard transactions are typically conducted through Telegraphic Transfer (TT), where 30% advance payment is made upon signing the sales contract and the remaining 70% balance is settled against scanned shipping documents prior to cargo release. This structure helps maintain transparency and ensures that shipment documentation is verified before completion of payment.

For larger shipment volumes or long-term supply agreements, we also accept payment through Irrevocable Letter of Credit (LC) at Sight issued by recognized international banks. In certain cases, customized payment structures may also be considered depending on the scale of the transaction, buyer relationship, and contractual arrangements. This flexible approach enables efficient international trade operations while building long-term commercial partnerships based on reliability, trust, and consistent supply performance.

With the growing global demand for aluminum and industrial minerals, bauxite remains a strategically important resource for multiple industries worldwide. At WAO Steels and Mines Export Pvt Ltd, we are committed to supplying high-quality bauxite through reliable sourcing, strict quality verification, and efficient export logistics. By maintaining transparent procurement processes, verified laboratory analysis, and internationally compliant documentation, we aim to provide our global partners with dependable mineral supply and long-term business collaboration.
